15 June 2009
The 2008-09 CATS Awards (Critics' Awards for theatre in Scotland) were announced on Sunday 14 June in a ceremony at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre.
The Lyceum is delighted to report that Vanishing Point, our co-producers for next season's The Beggar's Opera, scooped up three awards. The Glasgow based-touring company won awards for Best Director (Matthew Lenton, who will be directing Beggar's Opera), Best Ensemble and Best Production for Interiors, a co-production with the Traverse Theatre and Napoli Teatro, Festival Italia and Mercadente Teatro. The Lyceum is very excited to be working with such a succesful theatre company as part of our season 09/10.
Meanwhile Jemima Levick, the director of our Christmas show, Peter Pan, was on hand to pick up the award for Best Design which went to her amazing production of Sleeping Beauty. Jemima, who brought Lyceum audiences a superb version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol in 2005, will take on JM Barrie's classic story of adventure and magic from November this year.
