Schools Programme - Workshop & events
We offer a range of workshops that take place alongside each production of the season and a specialist Theatre Makers programme for Primary Schools.
The following 90 minute workshops can be booked at a time to suit you and your class (subject to availability). These workshops can take place in school or in the Lyceum's dedicated Education Space. Designed to enhance a visit to the production for any level of student, they are available to any group that books tickets.

SPOTLIGHT ON...
This is a practical drama workshop exploring the story, characters and themes of the current play.
This season we’re offering a choice of pre-performance workshops, which will concentrate on giving an introduction to the themes or styles that run through the piece, or post-performance workshops, which will focus more in-depth on a certain element or scene in the show.

PAGE TO STAGE
This pre-show workshop introduces and explores the production elements of the play. For example, set, costume, rehearsal process etc. 30 minutes of this 90 minute workshop is allocated to a discussion with an actor from the production about their role.
This workshop can only take place at the Lyceum Theatre in our Education Space.

FOCUS ON…
This is a practical exploration of a play and playwright in terms of text and context. This 90 minute workshop looks more closely at a particular scene from a play and explores aspects of the playwright’s life and works and the historical and political context of the play.

TAILOR-MADE WORKSHOPS
In addition to offering primary and secondary schools workshops on Lyceum productions, we are now able to offer schools drama support in all areas of the curriculum, for all stages.
These workshops may include:
• Improvisation and devising skills
• A text-based workshop on a specific play or theme that the class are exploring
• An investigation into a certain time period or event, including those studied in other subjects in the curriculum
• A general drama workshop
These workshops will be devised following conversation with the school, and we will do whatever we can to best suit your needs.

THEATRE MAKERS (Primary Schools)
A 6 week programme for Primary Schools in drama and theatre making linked to the Curriculum for Excellence outcomes.
£600 (CEC and local authority schools)/£800 (independent schools)
Includes 6 drama sessions, half-day visit to the Lyceum (including transport) and all project materials and resources.
CURTAIN RAISERS
A series of pre-show introductory special events to enhance enjoyment of our plays. These include talks, readings and Q&As with special guests, and take place on the first Tuesday of each show.
Curtain Raisers are open to Secondary School Pupils – and are free for under 18s.

CHRISTMAS WORKSHOPS FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS
We will be running drama workshops based on our Christmas show, The Snow Queen, led by our Drama Artist.
Booking is now open, with activity packs also available for primary schools who book to see the show.
