Schools Programme - Work Experience
PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO THE HIGH NUMBER OF QUERIES WE RECEIVE FOR WORK EXPERIENCE WE REGRET THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO REPLY TO ALL REQUESTS.
We offer placements for school students (usually S4) at set times throughout the year. The next available slot for work experience will be in Spring 2011.
working but having fun at the same time... "
The Lyceum Theatre is a very popular choice of work experience placement for creative young people considering a future career in the arts.
Therefore, we ask that students wishing to apply for work placement send us a CV and covering letter, expressing their interest in working with the Lyceum. We then select the weeks that we can offer a meaningful placement and if necessary ask the students to come in and speak to us.
We have found this process not only ensures that we give opportunities to those who will respond best to them but gives the students an experience as close as possible to that of applying for a job.
I had such an eye-opening and enjoyable time "
Work experience is based within the Education Team and is very varied, depending on the time of year and the work we are producing. A placement may involve:
• Administration
• Front of house
• Archiving
• Data entry
• Lyceum Youth Theatre and school drama workshops
• Watching main show rehearsals
• Marketing and programme design
We also take a tour of the theatre, rehearsal studios, Admin offices, Workshop and Wardrobe departments and offer a chance to attend a performance of the current production.
This is a very special opportunity for students with a keen interest in theatre and drama and every one of our placement students has gained a real insight into theatre as a result of their placement.
Occasionally we are able to offer placements for university or college students
