Work with us

Casual Work

Not all jobs at the Lyceum are widely advertised - for example we have a lot of ushers, bar staff, stage crew and technical workshop staff who are recruited in a variety of ways and on a casual basis. If you’re looking for something like this, the information you need is detailed below. Please note that we get hundreds of applications for these sorts of jobs, so please don’t be offended if we don’t get back to you anytime soon!

Ushers
Our ushers are the backbone of our customer service effort - we don’t just want our audience members to arrive, sit down, watch the play and leave again. We want them to feel welcomed into our building, by people who know and care about the theatre, and who are determined to ensure that our customers have a night to remember.

We expect excellent customer care skills and a commitment to ensuring that people from all walks of life have a great visit to the theatre. In return you’ll become part of a close-knit and supportive team, you’ll get a chance to see the work of a busy theatre up-close-and-personal and you’ll get to see some brilliant shows and get paid for it!

We are not currently looking to recruit any new Ushers - if and when we are, details of how to apply will be placed here.

Bar staff
As with our ushers, we expect our bar staff to be excellent providers of customer care, and commited to ensuring that our audience members enjoy simply being in our building just as much as seeing the show.

You’ll need to be over 18, and past experience of working in a busy bar is likely to be very useful.

We are not currently looking to recruit any new Bar Staff - if and when we are, details of how to apply will be placed here.

Stage crew and technical workshop staff
Our sets are created and assembled by teams of highly skilled craftsmen and women, many of whom are permanent Lyceum staff, and some of whom are casual staff hired on a show by show basis. Most of these casual staff members are sourced based on existing contacts within the industry, and as the positions are usually only for short time periods, they are not widely advertised.

We do receive a great many unsolicited applications for this sort of work, but these are not encouraged and are not made use of when we are recruiting for this area of our work. Please do not send in CVs or application letters in relation to this sort of post.
