About LYT

Lyceum Youth Theatre is one of Scotland’s biggest youth theatre companies and has established a name for itself as a producer of high quality contemporary theatre, by young people.

LYT was established in 1999, and since then has involved thousands of young people. 250 young people between the ages of 5 and 18 years old are actively involved in drama every week and LYT draws young people from Edinburgh City, the West, East and Mid-Lothians, the Borders, Fife and Glasgow.

LYT have performed in over 15 major Scottish venues as well as the Millennium Dome and the Royal National Theatre, London. LYT have also showcased their work overseas at the De Åpne Teatre, Oslo (Norway), and in Seattle, Washington (USA).

LYT is regularly approached by leading British and International film, television and theatrical casting agencies and is now recognised as a reliable source of young Scottish based talent.

The ethos of LYT is that of a professional theatre company; young people are given the opportunity to develop skills and learn from experienced tutors, working in a professional manner as young actors and theatre makers.

As well as regular drama sessions, LYT offers the opportunity to participate in a range of projects, workshops and performances.

LYT aims to give the broadest range of high quality theatre experiences in a positive and supportive environment so that young people can develop their skills, not only in theatre and performance but also in terms of communication, confidence and creativity.
