About LYT

LyT was established in 1999, and since then has involved thousands of young people. It is widely regarded as Scotland's leading youth theatre. 270 young people between the ages of 5 and 18 years old are actively involved in drama every week and LyT draws young people from Edinburgh City, the West, East and Mid-Lothians, the Borders, Fife and Glasgow.

LyT has always played hard, but played fair. By pushing boundaries LyT has created some truly remarkable work establishing a name for itself as a producer of contemporary professional theatre for young people, by young people. LyT works with the five principles of DRAMA: Discipline, Respect, Attitude, Motivation and Application these basic principles are the backbone of our Youth Theatre.

In its lifetime LyT has undertaken over 1000 youth theatre drama sessions, 32 full-scale performance projects and 62 school holiday performance courses.

Described as 'one of the best youth theatres in Scotland' by The Scotsman newspaper, LyT prides itself on producing exciting, relevant and contemporary young peoples' theatre.

LyT have performed in over 15 major Scottish venues as well as the Millennium Dome and the Royal National Theatre, London. LyT have also showcased their work overseas at the De Åpne Teatre, Oslo (Norway), and in Seattle, Washington (USA).

LyT is also regularly approached by leading British and International film, television and theatrical casting agencies and is now recognised as a reliable source of young Scottish based talent.
