An image of four young people wearing party hats and engaged in lively conversation.

The Lyceum Youth Theatre return to the Traverse after its critically acclaimed production of Bassett in March 2011.

Over two nights the four groups of Senior LYT (ages 14-18) will each perform shows in this celebration of theatre for young people.

These pieces will be devised by the companies and will showcase the talents of this remarkable Youth Theatre.

Bassett

A supply teacher has locked the door and run out on a group of pupils at Wootton Bassett School...

Spencer has been told to face the wall and intends to do so and Dean should have gone to the toilet before class.

All of the pupils are aware that out on the street a repatriation of another fallen British soldier is about to begin and Leo really wants to go.

Bassett is a darkly comic, powerful look at young people questioning their country and beliefs while living in a world where they can hardly remember a time when we were not at war.

OCTOBER HALF TERM 2009

Young people aged 8-12 took part in two full-day workshops.

The first focused on the history of the Lyceum, Victorian Theatre and the stars of the day, Henry Irving and Ellen Terry.

The second workshop gave young people the chance to experience a day in the life of a professional actor at the Lyceum.

Activities included creating scenes, character work, costume and stage makeup and behind-the-scenes info and a tour.
