LyT Shows and Projects - After Juliet

For the Summer on Stage 2007 project, the Lyceum Youth Theatre team, led a group of young people aged from 11 to 13 through the process of rehearsing, producing and finally performing a show of their own.

Over the three weeks of the project, these young people put together their production of Sharman Macdonald’s play After Juliet, finally presenting it publically on two evenings in mid-July.

After Juliet

By Sharman Macdonald

Romeo and Juliet are dead.

Four people are standing trial for their deaths. Their families and friends are reeling: shocked, angry and hurting. Rosaline loved Romeo and is hurting the most. Can Benvolio win her over with his love or will the Montagues and the Capulets draw their knives once more?

In the simmering heat of summer the tension between the gangs builds throughout this imagined tale – a tale which is not so far removed from today’s reality.
