LyT Shows and Projects - After Juliet
Back in 2005 LyT were invited to take part in the International Planetado Project 2006.
Planetado is a bi-annual, multi arts project aimed at teenage audiences and organised by Le Grand Bleu Theatre in Lille, France. The project has a number of different strands one of which is a youth theatre project funded by the EU. There were young people from France, Norway, Slovenia, Eire and Scotland taking part and we were all there for eight days in November.
Each of the groups, including the eleven lucky LyT members representing Scotland, created a 20 minute performance in advance to take to the festival and share with the other groups. Whilst in Lille we all worked together to create one enormous show with a cast of more than 50 that was performed for the public alongside hip-hop dancing and professional performances from France and Burkina Faso.
Here, some of the LyT participants describe Planetado in their own words …
Polly Davidson – “I realised that although we lived such different lives in such different countries, we had a lot in common.”
Kirsty MacKay – “Prior to and during our performance i felt a little nervous as I’m sure did everyone else, about how our show would be received but never the less it felt great to finally be performing in front of an audience. The show went well - even if the paint did run out! - and the other groups seemed to enjoy it.”
Geoffrey Saunders – “The exhibition was very interesting and the African dancers and musicians were very good as well.”
Ailidh Ogilvie – “The dancing and singing by each individual was so passionately acted, you were left feeling enthralled by the overall performance. Two nights of inspiration and great fun!”
Thomas Kelly – “I found it enjoyable to see different people from different countries’ ideas. And the audience seemed to enjoy it too.”
